Anberlin created a new project: Cities
In an Alternative Press interview about the new album Cities, lead vocalist Stephen Christian commented that the lyrics throughout Anberlin's discography are progressively becoming more adult: "The first album, Blueprints for the Black Market (2003), was childish in the fact that it was Man vs. World. The last album, Never Take Friendship Personal (2005), was Man vs. Man. Cities, however, is Man vs. Self."

Never Take Friendship Personal is the second album released by the alternative rock band Anberlin. This album was chosen as one of Amazon.com's Top 100 Editor's Picks of 2005. Its singles were "A Day Late" and "Paperthin Hymn" and music videos have been made of each. "(The Symphony of) Blasé" is sometimes referred to as "Amsterdam". The album's name is inspired by when the band chose to remove guitarist Joey Bruce, whose only intention was sex, drugs, and rock n' roll.
